Silkscreen print from Victor Vasarely's ‘Vega’ series of kinetic and abstract geometric art that uses optical illusions to give the impression of depth and movement.
The composition features a distorted grid pattern that creates two distinct shapes: a sphere that appears to emerge towards the viewer and a concavity that seems to sink inwards.
The contrast between red and blue dominates, typical of Vasarely's chromatic research to stimulate visual perception.
Founded in Neuchâtel in 1944, the publishing house Éditions du Griffon has left its mark on the history of Swiss art publishing.
from Vasarely to Agam, Soto to Gabo, the publishing house has supported the leading exponents of the European visual avant-garde, promoting Swiss typographic expertise throughout the world. Victor Vasarely (1906-1997), the inventor of Op Art, was born in Hungary and died in France. He is one of the major artists of the 20th century. His name is associated with a veritable visual revolution, the impact of which can be seen in art, design and the urban landscape. Victor Vasarely's perfectionism demanded absolute quality, a standard that only the modern printing houses of Basel could meet at the time. Thus, between 1971 and 1978, Victor Vasarely entrusted Editions du Griffon with the production, distribution and dissemination of 19 albums and 12 posters presenting a selection of his works.
