During his lifetime, know as"peasant of Katsushika", and "The Art-Crazy Old Man,." He became one of the leaders in Japanese woodblock printing, and his work was admired in his home country and, particularly in France, and the Western world. . He produced more than 30,000 picture designs, noted as one of the most popular and distinguished artists "of all time." This small softcover/wraps book, is based upon. the Japanese text of Ichitaro Kondo, a foremost authority on the Japanese print, It was published by Charles E. Tuttle in the U.S. and Japan. The vintage book is in very good condition - clean, bright, unmarked inside, with some edge wear to the front cover, as shown. The color prints inside are way more gorgeous than these photos, and the book would allow removal of some to frame, if desired. This collectible book is the first in a series on Japanese artists.
