Vintage Armorial Porcelain Tea Caddy - George III Royal Arms
This exquisitely detailed porcelain vessel is a premier example of Chinese Export Armorial ware, rendered in the distinguished style of the late 18th century. The front panel features a masterful hand-painted rendition of the British Royal Coat of Arms as used during the reign of King George III (prior to 1801).
The heraldry includes the rare French Fleur-de-lis quartering—a historic claim to the French throne dropped after 1801—surrounded by the Garter motto, "Honi soit qui mal y pense". The shield is flanked by the classic Lion of England and the Chained Unicorn of Scotland, with the royal motto "Dieu et mon droit" anchored at the base.
The body is further adorned with vibrant Famille Rose floral sprays and rare bianco-sopra-bianco (white-on-white) raised enamel scrollwork that provides a sophisticated tactile texture. Finished with gilded accents and a traditional iron-red spearhead border, this piece perfectly captures the opulence of the Georgian era.

Condition
Very Good Antique Condition. The porcelain body is structurally sound with no chips, cracks, or repairs to the primary panels. The hand-painted enamels and gilding remain remarkably crisp.
Note on Authenticity: While the original porcelain cover is absent, this is a common occurrence with authentic tea caddies of this age and style. This "found" state often enhances the piece’s versatility, allowing it to transition seamlessly into a sophisticated small-scale vase or a desktop accessory.
Provenance & Style
Style: 18th Century George III Armorial Export.
Artistic Detail: Features the "Standard of the Realm" quartering used from 1714–1801.
Origin: Produced for the British market as a high-quality heritage piece, following the original patterns of the Jingdezhen and Canton workshops.
With its rich royal history and intricate raised-enamel craftsmanship, this tea caddy is a sophisticated "connoisseur" piece that brings the grandeur of the British monarchy to any traditional or Chinoiserie-inspired collection.
