Three functional drawers provide practical storage while maintaining balanced proportions. The top reveals old cracks, gouges, separation of the planks and light staining consistent with generations of use, all contributing to the authentic aged appeal of the piece. There are signs of old, dried wormholes as well. At an earlier point, the drawers may have opened with a key, but now a remaining small hole is seen above the wood pulls or knobs attached to each drawer.
The table has been restored, remains strong and stable, and is ready for use. Its versatile scale and understated French character make it suitable as a coffee table in a variety of settings.
