This incredibly weathered nomadic harvest vessel is a profound example of wabi-sabi beauty and historic utility. In traditional agrarian communities, sturdy baskets of this 23-inch scale were essential daily tools. Built to endure decades of heavy labor, a vessel like this would have been relied upon constantly for gathering crops, winnowing grains, or safely transporting communal food supplies. Woven entirely by hand from thick, natural grasses and reeds, this piece has developed an exceptionally rich, dark patina on the interior from years of authentic use. The rim was left raw and unadorned, showcasing the natural fraying and structural integrity of the historic plant fibers. When flipped over, the base reveals a thick, substantial layer of original sun-baked earthen mud sealing that has darkened significantly with age. This brilliant ancient technique waterproofed the bottom and protected the weave from the damp ground.
Measuring 23 inches across and 8.5 inches deep, this vessel is a powerful statement piece for modern interiors. Its dark, moody tones and raw textures make it a phenomenal focal point for a large coffee table or a rustic dining room centerpiece. It also serves as a stunning, organic floor catch-all beside a sofa or in an entryway, perfectly grounding a Japandi or globally curated space with its primitive, unstudied character.

Wear is consistent with significant age and historic daily use. Heavy, dry mud sealing, a very dark natural patina, and minor fraying of the grass fibers are present. These are not defects but rather the authentic markers of its history and tribal craftsmanship. less
