This beautifully textured nomadic harvest bowl carries the rich history of traditional, utilitarian craftsmanship. Long before mass production, wide baskets of this scale were essential everyday tools for agrarian and nomadic communities. Woven by hand to withstand heavy daily use, a 24-inch bowl like this would have been used for winnowing grains, gathering large crop yields, or carrying communal supplies.
This piece features tightly coiled natural grasses, but its standout element is the heavily distressed, pink and striped textile wrapped securely around the rim. Historically, weavers bound the edges with scrap fabric or leather to reinforce the rim against the constant friction of being dragged and stacked. If you look closely at the interior, you will also spot beautiful, subtle pops of pink and magenta fibers woven directly into the concentric coils. At a substantial 24 inches wide, this bowl makes an incredible focal point. Because of its wide, relatively shallow 10-inch profile, it is highly sought-after as three-dimensional wall art—perfect for adding warmth and texture to a minimalist or Japandi-inspired room. It also works beautifully resting on a large kitchen island to hold fresh fruit or decorative moss spheres, or placed at the base of a fireplace to hold kindling.
