In fact, we almost didn't let it go.

This emerald green Seltzer Bottle dates from the 1930s and has been in the hands of our master restorer in Buenos Aires for decades. He kept it aside, set apart from the hundreds of bottles that pass through his workshop every year. That alone tells you something.

The glass is extraordinary: deep green with a luminous clarity, covered in intricate embossed patterns, geometric crosshatching, swirl detailing, and a central medallion with a portrait figure (La Africana). The original pewter spout is intact and perfectly aged—no chips, no scratches, no repairs. For a piece that's over 80 years old, the condition is remarkable.

In Argentina, seltzer bottles like this one were everyday objects, present on every family table, refilled for years. They were part of a domestic ritual that no longer exists. This particular bottle survived not just that era, but decades of careful keeping by someone who understood its value before anyone else did. See less
