Figures of this scale were traditionally created for temple festivals, ceremonial processions, or traveling fairs, where they served as lively theatrical elements within public celebrations. Finished in hand-applied paint with a warm yellow ground, expressive black spotting, and bold red harness-like decoration, with a small green saddle detail along the back. Beautiful natural wear, rubbed edges, and areas of exposed wood lend the surface a richly authentic patina that reflects years of handling and movement. Monumental yet whimsical, the sculpture carries a strong sculptural presence and reads almost like a piece of folk art architecture, making it a dramatic focal point in a grand entry hall, gallery-like interior, or covered outdoor space.
