The designer of this particular take on the Indian Tree, was H. J. Wood, produced for Staffordshire Potteries in England. It is an older design, with the original pieces actually coming from the Coalport Potteries in 1802. The pieces designed by H.J. were created in the 1960s and were indicative of the back to Nature ideals that were popular at that time. It's believed that the Indian Tree design was actually taken from the Willow Tree pattern, used in Chinese pottery decoration. It is still highly collected to this day. These two offerings are a nice sized drinking pitcher and an elongated bowl on a pedestal. Amazingly enough, for pieces that are 70+ years old, they are in remarkable condition. The earthy colors of red, green, tan, yellow, blue and brown have not faded. No damage, just a tiny little "flea bite" on the bottom rim of pitcher, see photo. These pieces have no crazing and have been lovingly cared for. The pitcher measures 9.25" at tallest x 7" at widest including handle. It has its pattern stamp of #579 on bottom. The pedestal bowl measures 12" long x 5" wide x 5" tall. Again, no damage, chips or crazing. It is stamped 701 on bottom. Both pieces signed on bottom. See less
