​Inspired by the profound 15th-century verses of Jorge Manrique, Intervention 29 is a contemporary masterwork from Methinks Art Studios that explores the "slices of life" that define us. This vessel is a physical manifestation of the tension between the enduring and the fleeting—what the artist calls the "Neon Surf."
​The Alchemy of Material
​Though the piece possesses the weathered, organic texture of ancient wood, it is a sophisticated ceramic compound. The artist has "intervened" upon this ceramic "Rock" to create a multi-dimensional map of global travels. Deep, hand-carved "hendijas" (crevices) represent the wounds and wrinkles of experience, left intentionally open to allow the "life force" to breathe.
​The Elements
​The Sahara & The Sea: Capturing the "ethereal unseen," the work references the volatile ash of the Sahara crossing the ocean to the Virgin Islands. Translucent, glass-like glazes mimic the crystal-clear waters of St. Thomas and the BVI—surfaces so clear they can be felt but not seen.
​Perspective-Shift Narrative: Designed to be viewed from 360 degrees, the vessel’s story transforms with the light. From one angle, a jagged coastline; from another, a hidden face or a vibrant "Neon Surf" that glows with the electric pulse of the present moment.
​The "Splendid-US" Signature: The base is finished in a deep textured blue, hand-signed in neon. The final letters are intentionally separated—SPLENDID-US—a dedicated tribute to the collaborative spirit of the dwelling, the artist’s loyal dog Chloe, "My AI, our endless chats" and the shared "Us" that brings the work to life.
