This exquisite antique Northwood Argonaut Shell (Nautilus) pattern covered sugar bowl/compote is a stunning example of Victorian-era EAPG (Early American Pattern Glass) from the Northwood Glass Company circa 1898-1910. Crafted in luminous custard glass (creamy ivory/opalescent uranium glass that glows brilliantly under blacklight/UV for that signature green fluorescence-perfect for collectors), it features an all-over hobnail texture mimicking nautilus shell ridges, a domed lid topped with a prominent seashell finial, and a footed base adorned with whimsical pressed motifs: branching coral/seaweed, scallop shells, acorns and oak leaves (hand-painted in green enamel for subtle color contrast). Hand applied gold gilt accents highlight the coral sprays, banding around the base transition, and shell details - adding elegant Victorian flair with just the right amount of age-appropriate patina.
Marked inside the base with the classic script "Northwood" signature, confirming authenticity.
