Between 2011-2012, Alessi produced a collection of trays designed by eight Chinese architects, in order to explore the potential of Chinese product design and to create a bridge between the two cultures. The collection, called (Un)Forbidden City, was exhibited at Beijing Design Week in 2011. The products ran on a limited production and are now discontinued.
This tray is half of a pair titled "Clouds Root", designed by Pritzker Price winning architect Wang Shu.
The tray is constructed of 18/10 stainless steel with a mirrored polished finish. Marked Alessi, Wang Shu, 2012, and includes a production number.
