The material of … Read more This Rattan Wall Mirror is an original decorative object manufactured by the Italian company Bonacina between 1950s/1960s. The material of this mirror is the so-called midollino, that is rattan , a sort of climbing palm widespread in tropical and sub-tropical areas. The name of midollino probably derives from the fact that it is obtained from the innermost part of the rattan plant, that is, from the 'pith'. Considered as one of the poorest materials in the fashion world, this material was protagonist of a golden age during the '50s and '60s, when women loved wearing accessories made of straw, rope and bamboo; how can we forget the famous Gucci Bamboo bag, which still retains the handle of this material today. Bonacina was a well-known company active in the furniture and industrial design sector. Although it has not existed since 2014, its products, characterized by a high quality and great attention to detail, are still appreciated today.
