The underside is impressed VALLAURIS and hand-inscribed in French with the poetic phrase:

"miel des lavanderaies – Pierre Charet & C°", translated as

"honey from the lavender fields – Pierre Charet & Company."

This inscription reflects a glaze or series title, evoking the Provençal landscape, and is typical of mid-20th-century Vallauris studio pottery. The vase features a richly textured green mineral / drip glaze over a warm stoneware body, with an unglazed foot ring.

A beautiful, honest example of post-war French studio ceramics from one of Europe's most important pottery centers.
