There are nine pieces, all used but in good condition. Steiff, known for its "knopf im Ohr," is a German company founder, Margarete Steiff. On March 3, 1893, the toy factory was registered in the commercial register as "Margarete Steiff, Filzspielwarenfabrik Giengen/Brenz." In 1904, to protect Steiff animals from imitation, Franz Steiff, Margarete's nephew, developed the trademark, the famous "button in the ear," a trademark that is still protected today. Initially, the button had an elephant on it, but over the years this was replaced by the lettering "Steiff."
