A decorative pair of small hinge lidded caddies with attractive engraved decoration. Made in England for the Canadian fine silver and jewelry firm Henry Birks and Sons, which was founded in 1893. These date ca. the first half of the 20th century. Such vessels could also have been used to hold condiments- jellies or mustards on an elegantly laid table, and could could be useful in a variety of other settings today. Marked and stamped “England” on the undersides. Initials: “FMH.”
