This is a stunning, complete set featuring a traditional Chinese Blue and White Porcelain Brush Washer (Bixi) paired with its custom carved hardwood display stand. These objects were historically essential in a Chinese scholar's studio for rinsing calligraphy brushes and now serve as elegant decorative accents.
Decorated with a vigorous five-clawed Imperial Dragon chasing the "flaming pearl" of wisdom, a symbol of power and prosperity. Features a traditional Ruyi (cloud) pattern along the rim and stylized "crashing waves" at the base. The base bears a blue underglaze four-character Qianlong Reign Mark.
The stand is a dense, reddish-brown hardwood in the traditional Hongmu style with a high-luster finish. Intricate pierced openwork carving in a floral scroll design. The underside is fitted with green felt protective pads for tabletop safety.
