Made in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Circa 1870-1880's

Provenance: Purchased at Auction from the Almeda and Miller Hess estate farm on Orchard Rd, Mt. Joy, Donegal Township, Lancaster County Pennsylvania. June 16th 1990. (accompanied with the auction newspaper cutting, and sale receipt)

A true Chimney cupboard! The top cornice moulding is on the front and right side of the cupboard. The moulding return is only on one side, the left side was never intended to have a moulding return, it would have butted against a wall or "Chimney".
Constructed from Pennsylvania Tulip Poplar, and some pine woods. Simple square headed nailed construction, with a panelled mortise and tenon door frame. Retains the bright mustard yellow grain paint decorations. The interior has 4 shelves, slide mortised into the case, held up with square glue blocks. Retains the original steel hinges, and lock mechanism, and escutcheon.

Size: 72 1/2" tall, 25 3/4" wide, 16 1/2" deep. 24" case width.


Condition: As found estate fresh condition. The door is slightly warped from age and shrinkage. Age related wear and scuffs/dings from age and use. Some old paint dripping on the sides. see pictures. retains a key, lock is a little loose. See less
