This teak desk was manufactured in Denmark in the 1960s and exemplifies the Mid-Century Modern style, which emphasized proportion, functionality, and quality joinery. Designs of this type were created for home and office use, combining a compact structure with a light formal expression.
The design is based on a classic, asymmetrical layout. On the right side is a module with three drawers, and on the left, a lockable cabinet with a single front (a key is included). The central legroom is clearly accentuated by a delicate, arched cutout in the lower fascia, softening the geometric form of the body and introducing a subtle detail characteristic of Danish designs from this period.
The drawer fronts feature integrated, solid teak handles with a slightly rounded profile. This design is consistent with the aesthetic of the 1960s, when handles were considered an integral part of the design, not an accessory. Slender, tapered legs give the piece a visual lightness and lift the body above the floor, a common practice in Danish design of the time.
The warm teak hue and distinct grain emphasize the horizontal nature of the tabletop and the serene arrangement of the fronts. The entire piece maintains a balance between function and form—the structure is clear, the proportions balanced, and the detail subordinated to the overall design.
The piece has been professionally and carefully restored by removing old coatings, staining and finishing with varnish. The restoration was carried out by a talented and experienced carpenter with over 20 years of experience. Thanks to these treatments, the desk looks stunning and will serve its new owner for many years without fear of damage or wear from everyday use.
