1961 Joan Miró Galerie Maeght Exhibition lithograph. The artwork served as an advertisement for an exhibition of Miró's work at the Galerie Maeght Paris, a prominent modern art gallery founded in 1936. The composition features Miró's signature abstract, colorful style, characterized by bold black lines and primary colors. Marked on the bottom right. This specific year and exhibition items are highly collectible. These lithographs were printed by Arte Adrien Maeght and are recognized as "originals in the plate," meaning they were authorized and overseen by the artist's primary publisher.
Professionally framed with original high end wood backer, vintage green dust cover edge tape and screw in hardware. The care taken to frame this piece speaks to the remarkable condition. Art is in great condition with no tears, rips. Colors are bright and clean. Glass is crack free. Frame shows minor edge wear - please see photos and video. Display ready rare collection piece.
25.5"H × 17.75"W × 1"D
Additional Notes:
The Printing Mark: The typography of "© MAEGHT EDITEUR IMPRIMEUR" matches the standard imprint found on original exhibition posters from this era. The slightly irregular, "inky" edges of the letters are characteristic of a direct lithographic transfer.
The Paper Grain: The texture is a classic "wove" paper (often cream wove) used by the Maeght press in 1961. It features a natural, slightly fibrous surface that absorbs lithographic ink —distinctly different from the smooth or glossy surfaces of modern posters.
Preservation Note: While the frame is high-quality, older wood backers are not always "acid-free." To prevent foxing on the front it may be worth consulting a conservator to see if a modern acid-free barrier should be added between the wood and the lithograph. Rope cord can be replaced with modern wire.
