This carved wooden figurine depicts a Jin Chan, or the "Money Toad," a popular Feng Shui charm for prosperity. Crafted with a deep, reddish-brown patina, the toad is rendered with stylized, bulbous features, including prominent ridges over its obsidian-like inset eyes and a textured, warty skin that gives it a rugged, organic feel. Its most distinctive feature is the wide, smiling maw holding a circular wooden coin, symbolizing the beckoning of wealth. Interestingly, a view of the underside reveals that this is a three-legged toad, a mythical detail traditional to the Jin Chan, with the single rear leg tucked beneath its heavy, rounded body. The craftsmanship balances traditional symbolism with a playful, almost mischievous expression, making it both a cultural artifact and a charming decorative piece.
