This bronze sculpture of a rooster crowing is the work of the sculptor Géo Guesnet, active at the end of the 19th century. The piece is captivating for the vigor of its composition and the finesse of its execution: the bird, standing on its spurs, displays a proudly raised comb and plumage rendered with remarkable precision. Each feather is chiseled with a naturalistic accuracy that testifies to the skill of the Belle Époque foundrymen. The warm, deep patina enhances the forms and lends the whole a noble and timeless presence. On the base rises a Lorraine cross decorated with flowers. The bronze rests on a black marble base encircled by an elegant row of gilt bronze beads, emphasizing the decorative and refined character of the piece. A symbol of strength, light, and assertion, the patriotic rooster occupies a privileged place in French iconography. This sculpture offers an energetic yet harmonious interpretation, ideal for enriching a collection of animal bronzes or adding a touch of character to a classic or contemporary interior.
