Produced in the mid-1890s, this Royal Worcester porcelain figure belongs to James Hadley’s Egyptian-themed cabinet series. The model was originally conceived as a tambourine player (model 1084), inspired by late Victorian interest in classical and Orientalist subjects. The warm ivory porcelain body is typical of Worcester’s sculptural work from this period.
The original instrument has been replaced by a vessel during a professional restoration, carefully matched to the original modelling. The impressed HADLEY mark appears to the side of the base, while the model number and 1895 registration mark are located underneath.
Large sculptural figures by Hadley are prized for their refined modelling, clear attribution and strong presence within Royal Worcester’s late nineteenth-century production.
Dimensions: height 23 cm, width 10 cm, depth 10 cm
Weight: 534 g
