Description: A single stone carved sculpture, features a recumbent nude male figure, executed in white Carrara marble, carving marked and inscribed at lower right side base; "R. Schwanthaler".
Dimensions: 19.75 inches H x 15 inches L x 7 inches D.
About the artist: The artist Rudolf Schwanthaler (1842 - 1879) was active/lived in Germany. He is known for sculpture, drawing and ceramics. Rudolf came from the Schwanthaler family, a family of sculptors well known from the Baroque and Rococo periods (17th – 19th centuries). Considered the best-known representative of this is Rudolf's uncle, Ludwig Michael (1802-1848) - creator of Bavaria - the female symbol shape and secular saint of Bavaria, acting as personified allegory on the state structure Bayern in different forms and manifestations.
