The history of the International Silver Co., and the various companies that joined themselves together to form it in 1898, is to a remarkable degree the history of the industry itself. The International Silver Co. was organized with an authorized capital of $20,000,000 and included the following companies each of which had won a place for itself in the silver world: Meriden Britannia Co., Wilcox Silver Plate Co., Meriden Silver Plate Co., Meriden; Barbour Silver Co., Rogers Cutlery Co., William Rogers Mfg. Co., Hartford; Holmes & Edwards Silver Co., Bridgeport; Manhattan Silver Plate Co., Lyons, N. Y.; Norwich Cutlery Co., Norwich; Rogers & Brother, Rogers & Hamilton Co., Waterbury; Watrous Mfg. Co., Simpson, Hall, Miller & Co., Simpson Nickel Silver Co., Wallingford; Derby Silver Co., Derby: Middletown Plate Co., Middletown.
