The Blenko #966 Freeform Ashtray was designed by Winslow Anderson and transitioned Blenko from a stained glass manufacturer to a leader in decorative art glass. Anderson introduced biomorphic, organic shapes inspired by nature and Scandinavian modernism. This piece is a hand-blown art glass piece characterized by its asymmetrical, shape, rich vibrant blue color and heavy weight. Its unique hand blown design makes each piece different and highly collectible. This was originally designed as an ashtray but could be used as a decorative bowl, a catchall for small items as a trinket dish or jewelry tray. It measures 8 1/2” long by 7 3/4” wide by 1 1/2” tall.
