Extremely fine seated Kuan Yin, carved in a single block of cedarwood and showing its age. crowned with Buddha image … Read more Extremely fine seated Kuan Yin, carved in a single block of cedarwood and showing its age. crowned with Buddha image in the crown and the hair in small curls at the forehead. the Kuan Yin sits with legs crossed, an unusual pose in China but a known posture in Korea. The whole above waves rising to a rockwork seat. Facially the image strikes a very similar profile to the early Song dynasty. The size is 30.5" tall, and the base is 13" by 12" overall. Very good condition, slight traces of polychrome over the surface. See less
