We are excited to bring this incredible painting to public attention. Berlin is renowned for his use of colour, pigments and texture but this piece is truly exceptional. Sumptuous in detail and material it glows and shimmers, changing nuances with changing light. When we first saw it, it generated an outpouring of genuine emotion, only great artists can cause such an effect. "A golden mind stoops not to shows of dross; I'll then not give nor hazard aught for lead. What says the silver with her virgin hue?" says Shakespeares Prince of Morocco in The Merchant of Venice. Such an apt view for a work of this stature, indeed not of lowly earthbound, pedestrian humanity; a higher power has created this masterpiece.
Hand ground pigments, 24 ct gold leaf, copper leaf and crushed marble.
