It originally appeared in a French magazine from that time and is NOT a recent reproduction print. It is signed by the illustrator, Foukiya. The image represents the "Katsuta Dancer". It was created to accompany a poem by Hai Kai Kikou Yamata, a French born writer of Japanese heritage. The image details showcase Japanese Asian influences and symbolism. The open screen reflects a garden of chrysanthemums in full blossom, respresenting a long life of happiness for the eternally youthful dancer. The protective cranes are legendary and speak to good luck, love, and a long life. And the open fan in the dancers hand shows fully blossomed flowers symbolizing the widening of prosperity and wealth. The image is soft and etherial, done in soft hues of pinks/lavendars and gray tones. It is in excellent vintage condition with no indication of its age. 6.5 x 8.5 inches in size. Comes mounted on acid free paper. See less
