Original contemporary painting by important mid career artist Sharon Booma. For those not familiar with the artist, I have included her biography below. This is one of a group of 6 of her original works I acquired from her Minds and Motives Series done in 2007. These were acquired by a designer for one of the major hotels in Boston and hung in the conference and board rooms at the hotel. I acquired them directly from them. This is a mixed media of oil paint and what look to be bolts on wood. Measuring 40 x 40 x 3 1/4 inches they are in outstanding as painted condition. Signed and dated verso. Really just an outstanding example of the artist's work. Do your research on the artist. Her works are sold in galleries throughout America and the asking price is more than double what I am asking. A great chance to acquire some important works by this great American woman artist.
For those not familiar with the artist he biography from one of the galleries that represents the artist reads: "Sharon Booma is an independent artist from Massachusetts now living in Florida. She works with several different media to create colorful abstract compositions on paper and board. Many of her paintings are based on geometric shapes that intertwine and overlap one another. Surface texture adds visual interest and dimension to the work in addition to painted collage elements, bits of handmade paper, and pencil markings. Passages of pattern also create visual accents within her color fields. Sharon comments on the theme running throughout her work: "With the rhythm of color and texture and repitition of forms, I seek to turn each piece into a visual symphony." Sharon graduated from the University of Connecticut and also studied at the College of New Rochelle in New York. She has exhibited her work nationwide for nearly 20 years, with solo shows at LewAllen Contemporary in Santa Fe, Caldwell Snyder Gallery in San Francisco, and Anderson O'Brien Fine Art in Omaha. Sharon's work has been reviewed in ArtNews and Art in America."
