Bodhisattva are compassionate enlightened beings who help others achieve enlightenment. This sculpture represents a syncretic style influenced by Buddhist art inside and outside China, that was established by the Sui Dynasty of 6th and 7th century China. This example dates to the 20th century, and was purchased in China in the late 20th century. Good condition, with typical irregularities, chisel marks to the stone surface.
