I picked this beauty up, along with a few other aluminum serving pieces, at an estate sale many years ago. It has been a fabulous serving piece and also, décor accent. It’s looking for a new home, yours perhaps?

Aluminum housewares became fashionable during the 1930s, at a time when most Americans could not afford luxury metals like silver. At one time there were over 200 companies crafting hand-hammered/hand forged aluminum wares. This beauty is a hand forged piece, circa 1930/1940. A makers name is not to be found but “World Hand Forged” is on the underside. Substantial in-size with an artisanal ivy and vine motif, it is lightly hammered with a gently serrated lip and raised riveted handles with rosettes as part of the rivet design. In excellent condition with some scratches that meld into the design of the ivy and vine. The tray was in this condition when acquired. FYI, abrasive scrubbies and gritty cleaners are to hammered aluminum what wooden stakes are to vampires, never should they cross paths. The dishwasher is strictly out of the question too. This beauty measures 18¾” x 11½” x ½” L/D/H; interior 14½” x 9½”; weight 1.4 lbs. A perfect piece to bring out at your next gathering or to use as a fanciful décor accent.
