This desk chair was produced in the early 1980's by Young & Hinkle and distributed by the Dixie Furniture Company to be paired with their popular "Campaigner" desk. It is in very good, unaltered vintage condition. Please see condition notes and photos for a detailed view of this item.
About the company:
Established in 1901 in Lexington, North Carolina, Dixie Furniture Company was founded by Henry Link and other entrepreneurs. Initially, the company focused on producing oak and walnut bedroom furniture, catering to the middle-class market. Under the leadership of Henry Link, who took over in 1936, Dixie Furniture expanded significantly. Link was inspired by mass production techniques he observed at Henry Ford's automobile plant, which led him to implement assembly line methods in Dixie’s operations. This innovation allowed the company to increase production efficiency and output.
Throughout its history, Dixie Furniture was recognized for its diverse catalog, producing a wide range of furniture styles that remain popular among collectors today. The company employed thousands at its peak and contributed significantly to the furniture manufacturing landscape in North Carolina.
