Bloco da Lama ("Mud Block") is one of Paraty's most iconic and exuberant carnival traditions. During the annual festivities, participants cover themselves in natural mud from the mangroves and parade through the historic streets in joyful, primal celebration. This rare vintage mask captures the raw, expressive spirit of that era: bold, earthy, and unapologetically theatrical.
