This striking side table dates from the 1920s–30s and beautifully reflects the confidence of Dutch early modernist design. Its architectural silhouette is all about line and curve: Three side supports rise in elegant arcs, creating a dramatic U-shaped negative space beneath the round top. At the centre, a small circular platform connects the structure like a punctuation mark, both functional and decorative.

The colour scheme is a later addition, most likely from the 1980s, and it transforms the piece entirely. The combination of lemon yellow and black works surprisingly well, accentuating the geometry and giving the table a subtle postmodern edge without losing its interwar character. It feels like the 1920s met the 1980s and agreed on something bold.

Underneath, the solid wooden construction and original joinery are visible, showing honest craftsmanship and age. The table is in very good, stable and sturdy condition.

An expressive piece of Dutch Art Deco, combining 1920s design with a later decorative update. Very suitable as an accent piece, bedside or lamp table. See less
