The attack took place on March 4, 1960, in the port of Havana. The French cargo ship, La Courbe, which was carrying Belgian munitions to the revolutionaries, exploded twice. There were around a
hundred dead and injured. The attack was blamed by the Cuban government on the United States, which then put pressure on European governments to establish an embargo on the arms trade with Cuba. The
next day, a commemorative march took place, the procession included Fidel Castro and Che Guevara.
