Staken floor lamp designed by Carl Malmsten, Sweden, circa 1940s.
An elegant example from one of Sweden's most celebrated furniture designers and a defining voice of Swedish Modern design.
The lamp features Malmsten's characteristically refined approach to form and function, with a clean-lined beech construction and thoughtful proportions. The adjustable height mechanism and sculptural swing arm allow for flexible positioning, making it ideal as a reading lamp or ambient lighting. The circular base provides stable support while maintaining the lamp's slender visual profile.
The lamp is accompanied by its original artisan shade handcrafted by Vanja Sorbon Malmsten for Malmstenbutiken. The shade features hand-picked botanical specimens—ferns, leaves, and wildflowers—carefully pressed onto natural paper, creating a luminous organic composition. This distinctive craft technique was characteristic of Malmstenbutiken's attention to artisanal quality and the Swedish tradition of bringing nature indoors.
The beech shows warm honey tones and excellent vintage condition with minimal signs of age. Original maker's mark "CM" present on base.
Adjustable mechanism functions smoothly. Original botanical shade beautifully preserved.
A rare opportunity to acquire a signed Carl Malmsten piece with its original handcrafted Vanja Sorbon Malmsten shade intact. Perfect for collectors of Swedish Modern design and interiors seeking authentic period lighting with complete designer provenance.
