The lively scene, apparently a bacchanal, features Bacchus (the god of wine) as the central figure: seated on a throne-like structure, he is surrounded by various figures, including satyrs, nymphs, and other revelers, along with various animals, including exotic ones. The god gazes and extends his hand toward Ariadne, standing on the right, facing the sea, where Theseus has fled, abandoning her after she helped him slay the Minotaur. The myth has been widely depicted in art: this painting is particularly reminiscent of one of the many versions painted by Luca Giordano (1634-1705), now at Kedleston Hall in England, which can in turn be considered a variant of Titian's famous painting. The painting shows signs of restoration and relining. It is presented in a late 19th-century frame. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
