A high quality studio ceramic art vase, attributed to the renown German ceramic artist Helma Klett (1908-1996) during the 1940s.
The impressive low vessel has an impressive modernist glaze in hues of rust red and brown. The vase features a modernist wave line decor which was a typical design element the ceramist used in her work. This piece comes from an ambitious private ceramic art collection.
Helma Klett was trained by the renown ceramist Siegfried Graham in Römhild during the 1930s. The ceramist founded her artistic pottery workshop in the village of Fredelsloh, Northern Germany in 1940.
She followed the modernist principles of the Bauhaus as well as traditional design in her work and this duality makes it very interesting. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
