An exceptional late 19th–early 20th century Italian alabaster bust depicting a young girl absorbed in the quiet act of sewing, presented on its original matching marble column pedestal. This refined sculpture reflects the popular “La Couseuse” (The Sewing Girl) motif, celebrated for its sentiment, classical poise, and fine craftsmanship.
Hand-carved from solid alabaster with beautifully natural veining, the bust displays fine detail in the face, hands, and drapery.
