This vase is characterized by its intricate hand-painted motifs, aged crackle finish and brass sculptured rim. This vase features lush floral baskets, butterflies and insects, as well as more complex scenes featuring musical instruments or floral ribbons. The cylindrical urn shape vase features a craqueline or “crazing” effect in the glaze, giving the surface a network of fine lines that simulates an aged, antique appearance, thus is a hallmark of the United Wilson factory. The sculptured brass rim adds a weighted, regal feel to the porcelain. The striking cobalt blue and ivory background creates a unique and sophisticated decorative piece that transcends a single cultural origin.
