A striking tall French étagère shelving unit crafted from steel featuring a refined architectural frame in the Neoclassical taste. The dramatic open linear frame features repeated X-form bracing stretchers along the sides. The supports are topped by elegant turned "Pommeaux de Canne" finials in the manner of Giacometti crowning each upright. The piece offers five fixed tiers with smooth sheet-metal shelves displaying a subtle nickel swirled burnished pattern. The shelf is finished with small turned feet and a lightly open galleried upper tier. The shelves are ideal for displaying objects, as a bookshelf, or storage while maintaining an airy and open presence. The piece blends Neoclassical, Industrial, and Regency styles, making it suitable for a variety of interiors. The shelf is sturdy and strong having excellent joinery and craftsmanship. Constructed on a large scale with a distinctive profile and industrial aesthetic. Purchased from John Rosselli & Associates, Ltd., New York, NY, 1995. From the estate of Buzz Berger, Beverly Hills, California.
