Elevate your space with a genuine piece of Hollywood’s Golden Age. This elegant French Neoclassical Trumeau mirror was formerly part of the legendary Pickfair Estate, the Beverly Hills home of silent film icon Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks.
The mirror features a soft, antiqued cream and gold parcel-gilt finish. The upper decorative panel is centered by an exquisite oval bas-relief medallion depicting a classical female figure, framed by sweeping laurel branches. The mirror glass is encased in a sophisticated carved rope-twist and bead-and-reel border. Based on the wood backing and type of saw used this piece was probably made between 1900-1925.
This piece retains its original auction notecard from the historic Julien’s Auctions Pickfair Estate sale in November of 2008, where I purchased it. A perfect acquisition for collectors of film history or those seeking a sophisticated Neoclassical accent with an unparalleled story. Please see my other Pickford chair and Clark Gable pieces.
Condition:
Good vintage condition. The frame shows beautiful age-appropriate patina and minor "shabby chic" wear to the gilt and plaster, including small chips consistent with its history (see detail photos). The mirror glass is clear and intact. The mirror plate retains gentle age-related silvering variation and soft vertical haze, typical of period glass and contributing to it's authentic patina.
