Constructed in richly grained mahogany, the piece features deeply carved foliate panels set against textured grounds, fluted detailing, and elegant architectural symmetry throughout. The upper central cabinet is adorned with decorative carved doors beneath a molded cornice, flanked by full-length mirrored doors that open to reveal generous hanging storage on either side. The central section offers a thoughtfully arranged bank of drawers, providing both practical organization and visual balance. The interior retains its original maker’s plaque reading “Ralph Johnson, Cabinet Maker, Warrington,” a wonderful detail that speaks to its regional English craftsmanship and likely bespoke origin. The wardrobe is constructed in multiple sections that stack together to form the complete piece, allowing for easier transport and installation while maintaining excellent structural integrity and presence. The hanging rails within the side compartments appear to have been updated at some point, thoughtfully installed to provide practical modern functionality while preserving the cabinet’s original character. With its carved detail, original mirrors, brass hardware, labeled maker, and traditional sectional construction, this piece stands apart from typical factory-produced Victorian wardrobes. It offers both architectural impact and highly usable storage. See less
