Sculptural vintage studio art pottery vase signed “Hammer” on the underside. Handbuilt stoneware form features a bold square mouth with a circular opening, diagonal ribbed relief, and a checkered/harlequin surface pattern beneath a blue-green/teal glaze with intentional pooling and textural variation. A dramatic raised/creased “fault line” detail adds strong Brutalist / Organic Modern character—perfect as a standalone art object or styled with dried stems.

Artist note: “Hammer”-signed studio pottery is commonly attributed in the market to Aleph Hammer (20th century), whose work is frequently described as Mid-Century Modern / Brutalist and appears both at auction and through design dealers.

Measurements: 15 3/8” H x 8 3/4” W.
Condition: very good vintage condition; handmade glaze variation and surface pitting consistent with studio firing. (Not tested for watertightness—use a liner for fresh flowers.)
