The artist, known for her early feminist stance, she actively engaged in artistic movements that championed women's fight for professional recognition. Her contribution is acknowledged in Art Without History – Women and Artistic Culture (16th–20th Centuries).

Maria Adelaide de Lima Cruz, was a rare Portuguese Art Deco painter with a cosmopolitan, colorful and elegant style from the revue theaters of the 20s and 30s.

A child prodigy, at the age of twelve, began as an illustrator in the style of Barradas and Soares, expanding into mural scenography in the old Casino of Estoril in 1935 and at the Portuguese World Exhibition in 1940. Participated in the Modern Art Exhibitions of the S.P.N./S.N.I., in Salons of the National Society of Fine Arts, 1st Drawing Medal, 1944, being present in public and private collections, such as Museu do Chiado.
