Large Japanese jar made from heavy stoneware, with a warm reddish-brown body and a striking rim and shoulder in dark blue-black and white drip glaze.
Dimensions: height 61.5 cm, diameter 50 cm.
This type of ceramic was traditionally made in Japan as a functional storage jar for the kitchen or pantry, often used for dry goods or preserved/fermented foods.
Today it works beautifully as a statement piece: as a large floor vessel in an interior, as a sculptural object in an open space, or as a vase for sturdy branches. Outdoors, it also makes a strong focal point on a terrace or in the garden.
The shoulder features six impressed circles in a 2×3 pattern (see detail photo).
Condition: perfect condition, no cracks or repairs.
