An incisive and concentrated drawing by Mino Maccari, executed in black ink, presenting a group of expressive head studies arranged across the sheet. Four male profiles and three-quarter views are rendered with rapid, confident strokes, their exaggerated noses, chins, and brows distilling individual character into sharply observed caricature. Each head is treated as an autonomous psychological sketch, while their juxtaposition creates a rhythmic, almost conversational sequence. Maccari’s line is at once economical and incisive, alternating between bold contours and lighter, exploratory marks. The absence of background or setting focuses attention entirely on physiognomy and expression, underscoring the artist’s acute interest in the human face as a site of moral and social revelation. The drawing is accompanied by a handwritten inscription in Italian along the lower margin—“Non ti preoccupare, / tra tre giorni non se ne parlerà più” (“Don’t worry, in three days no one will talk about it anymore”)—which functions as a pointed ironic commentary and an integral element of the composition.
