Etching on laid paper realized by Giovanni Battista Pasqualini after Guercino, in 1627. This print reproduces a lost drawing or painting by Guercino, depicting one of the miracles that Elisha, accompanied by his servant Gehazi, performed in the land of Israel, causing the resurrection of the Shunammite woman's son. The plate belongs to Pasqualini’s most accomplished reproductive works and is a significant document of Guercino’s inventive process, preserving a composition otherwise lost. Pasqualini’s etchings are particularly prized for their fidelity to Guercino’s pictorial language and for their autonomous graphic quality within early 17th-century Bolognese printmaking. Printed on laid paper with visible chain lines. Condition: Generally very good, with light toning, minor foxing, and a few scattered age-related stains, consistent with the period. The impression remains clear and well-inked, preserving strong contrast and detail. A rare and important early Baroque etching, exemplifying the transmission of Guercino’s inventions through the hand of his closest graphic interpreter. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
