The piece has a modernist glaze in impressive hues of dark brown and rust red, creating a striking contrast to its form, which was inspired by old rural vessels. The object comes from an ambitious private collection.

Helma Klett founded her artistic pottery workshop in Fredelsloh, Northern Germany in 1940. She was trained by the renown ceramist Siegfried Graham in Römhild during the 1930s.

Helma Klett followed the principles of the Bauhaus as well as traditional design in her work and this duality makes it very interesting. This piece has an attribution mark,
